Esquel shooting club proposes commercialization of wild game meat
The Tiro Federal de Esquel has proposed a new initiative to commercialize meat from wild boar, deer, and guanaco to address sanitary and regulatory issues. The proposal includes the use of a mobile slaughterhouse equipped with cold storage, allowing hunters to undergo bromatological inspections and prepare meat for formal sale.
This initiative follows concerns regarding the growing wild boar population and a confirmed case of trichinosis in the region. The club is also advocating for hunting law reforms, specifically seeking to expand authorized deer hunting zones to allow producers to utilize animals on their own land. Additionally, the proposal suggests using geolocation for hunters to provide the Secretariat of Environment with a permanent, cost-free census to prevent indiscriminate hunting. For guanaco, the group suggests adopting a model similar to Santa Cruz involving herding and shearing prior to slaughter.
