Esquerra-100xCent Vilafranca proposes 17 climate adaptation measures

The political group Esquerra-100xCent Vilafranca has proposed a package of 17 measures aimed at adapting the town of Vilafranca to the effects of climate change, specifically addressing increasing episodes of extreme heat. The group argues that the current municipal government, led by the PSC, lacks the political will and necessary speed to implement existing strategic plans.

The proposed measures are organized around several key objectives: increasing shade and greenery through urban renaturalization and tree planting, improving public comfort via portable fountains and street awnings, expanding the network of climate shelters, and cooling educational centers using sustainable energy. Additionally, the plan includes providing thermal support for elderly residents living alone and vulnerable populations, as well as reinforcing public services during extreme weather events.
