Esquerra Unida del País Valencià celebrates 40 years in Xàtiva

Esquerra Unida del País Valencià (EUPV) celebrated its 40th anniversary this Saturday in Xàtiva, gathering over 500 militants, political representatives, unions, and social entities. The event served as a collective memory exercise to highlight the organization's history of defending social rights, equality, public services, and working-class interests.

A central part of the commemoration was a tribute to four key figures who have led the formation at different stages: Albert Taberner, Joan Ribó, Marga Sanz, and Rosa Pérez Garijo. The ceremony recognized their contributions to the political project through both institutional presence and social mobilization.

The anniversary took place during a period of political reconfiguration for the Valencian left. Current general coordinator Rosa Pérez Garijo emphasized the importance of the party's membership, stating, “Without our membership, this organization would not be what it is.” The gathering also included various political figures and aimed to discuss the future direction of the left in the region.
