Esquimalt community library serves as creative art and zine exchange
A community-led art and zine library has been operating on the 400 block of Nelson Street in Esquimalt for one year. Created by Sonya Gracey, a former Victoria city councillor and current art therapist, the library serves as a creative hub for local residents.
The space allows community members to exchange various forms of art, including sculptures, paintings, jewelry, poetry, and short stories. It also functions as a venue for zines, which are self-published works that provide an accessible alternative to traditional publishing channels. Gracey designed the library to be a free, accessible space where individuals can both find inspiration and share their own creative works with the community.
