ESR to acquire Aquila Clean Energy APAC renewable portfolio

Singapore-based asset manager ESR has agreed to acquire 100% of Aquila Clean Energy APAC from the Hamburg-based Aquila Group. The acquisition aims to expand ESR’s footprint in the clean energy sector to support its core logistics and data centre businesses.

Aquila Clean Energy APAC manages a 1.6GW portfolio consisting of operational, construction, and advanced development assets. These assets are located across several Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The portfolio includes solar, wind, and battery storage projects, such as the 38MW Omeheu solar PV plant in New Zealand.

ESR leadership noted that the move addresses the increasing interconnection between logistics infrastructure, digital economies, and power demand. The transaction is expected to close by the first quarter of 2027, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
