EsSalud presidency changed as Peru removes Jaime Moreno
The Peruvian government has removed Jaime Moreno Eustaquio from his position as the executive president of the Social Security of Health (EsSalud). The decision, formalized through a supreme resolution signed by President Keiko Fujimori and Minister of Labor Juan Sheput, cited a "loss of confidence of the proposing authority" as the reason for his dismissal.
Moreno had held the position since June 10, having been appointed during the administration of José María Balcázar. His removal follows reports that he intended to remain in the role despite the change in government.
Hilda Sandoval Cornejo, the current Vice Minister of Labor and a state representative on the EsSalud Board of Directors, has been appointed as the temporary executive president. She will lead the institution until the government officially selects a permanent successor.
The leadership change occurs amid significant institutional challenges, including reports of administrative deficiencies and an estimated 1.3 billion soles in economic losses related to medicine procurement and logistics.
