Essam Abdel Fattah Sets Precise Criteria for Referee Selection Ahead of New Season

Essam Abdel Fattah, head of the referees committee of the Egyptian Football Association, announced that the upcoming season will be preceded by intensive training camps for elite referees and officials of the Premier and Professional leagues. Selection of match officials will be based on strict technical, physical, and cultural standards, including fitness tests, performance reports from the previous season, and knowledge of the latest law amendments.

Fattah emphasized that discipline will be the cornerstone of the refereeing system and noted that the association, under President Engineer Hany Aboureda, will reveal a major initiative for referees during the camps. The program also aims to broaden the pool of qualified officials and ensure transparent, scientific analysis of refereeing decisions.
