Essaouira teachers suffer food poisoning during training session

Dozens of teachers in Essaouira, Morocco, experienced sudden health complications after consuming a meal provided during a continuous training session for 'Pioneer Schools' (écoles de la réussite). The symptoms, which included acute diarrhea, prompted the emergency transfer of several educators to the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah Regional Hospital.

The Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. An inspection committee has been dispatched to evaluate the catering services and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. The Directorate stated that if the service provider is found to have breached contractual obligations, administrative and legal responsibilities will be established.

The National Union of Education – Democratic Orientation has condemned the incident, describing it as a disregard for teacher safety. Union members held a protest at the Provincial Directorate's headquarters, demanding accountability and stricter safety protocols for professional training activities.
