Esselunga expands stores in Massa and reopens Milan flagship
Esselunga has carried out major upgrades at two of its Italian locations. In Massa, the supermarket added roughly 550 sqm, bringing the store to about 3,000 sqm and expanding the range to more than 15,000 product references. The enlargement introduced new services such as an assisted meat counter, an enoteca with over 800 wine labels and a sommelier, and the Elisenda high‑end pastry line produced with the Cerea brothers of the three‑star Michelin restaurant Da Vittorio. The Bar Atlantic, opened as part of the project, provides 68 seats for customers. The opening was attended by mayor Francesco Persiani, Esselunga executive Marina Caprotti and company leaders.
In Milan, the Viale Piave store reopened after 14 months of renovation, with its sales area enlarged from 1,175 sqm to 1,269 sqm. The refurbished shop now offers around 9,500 products, a new Bar Atlantic with more than 40 indoor seats and a 50‑seat outdoor dehor, and an enoteca featuring about 700 wine references and sommelier advice. The store employs 84 staff members and plans to add a beauty‑store (EB) by the end of the year. Mayor Giuseppe Sala praised the revival of the historic neighbourhood supermarket.
