Essen emergency services search Ruhr river after abandoned clothing found

Emergency services have launched a large-scale search operation along the Ruhr river in Essen following the discovery of abandoned clothing. Passersby found a set of men's clothing, including black mid-high leather boots, dark jeans, and dark socks, neatly arranged on a pier in the Essen-Überruhr area, specifically near the historic Holteyer Hafen.

The operation involves the police, fire department, DLRG, and drones, as well as boats equipped with ultrasound technology and a police helicopter. While the search is being conducted as a precautionary measure, no official missing person report has been filed at this time. The incident follows several recent drowning fatalities in the Essen area during the summer months.
