Essen hairdresser offers free cuts for reading aloud

Hairdresser Danny Beuerbach has launched a unique initiative in Essen, Germany, to encourage reading among children and adolescents. Operating from an outdoor workspace in Holsterhausen, Beuerbach offers free haircuts to clients who read aloud to him from a book during their appointment.

Beuerbach, who has experience as a festival hairdresser and ‘speed cutter’, aims to foster a love for reading in an increasingly digital world. Clients can choose to read from their own favorite books or from a collection of various genres brought by the hairdresser.
