Essendon interim coach Dean Solomon says he loves the role amid club's losing streak

Dean Solomon, serving as interim head coach of the Essendon Football Club, told media he has "loved every moment" of the job despite the team's dire form. The Bombers sit at 1‑15 on the AFL ladder, having lost 28 of their last 29 matches, including a recent 67‑point defeat to St Kilda.

Solomon, a former player from Essendon's 2000 premiership, said he has not yet applied for the permanent position and has not spoken with club president Andrew Welsh about his future. He affirmed he will remain with the club even if he does not become the full‑time senior coach. The club is expected to interview former coach Kevin Hird and consider several assistant coaches, while former Sydney Swans coach John Longmire is also linked to the role.

Essendon face a likely wooden spoon for the first time since 2016 as they prepare for an upcoming match at the Gabba against the reigning premiers, Brisbane.
