Essex car rally raises over £60,000 for disability charity

A car rally through Essex has raised more than £60,000 to support children with disabilities. Organized by housebuilder Bellway, the 50-mile event aimed to fund a new Variety Sunshine Coach, which is a specially adapted minibus for schools catering to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The funds were generated through a combination of entry fees, sponsorships, and donations, with Bellway pledging to double-match the proceeds. More than 40 drivers participated in the rally, which traveled from North Weald Airfield in Epping to Nethergate Brewery and Distillery in Long Melford, featuring vehicles ranging from a 1938 Jaguar SS100 to a 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera.
