Essex collector to auction hundreds of rare John Deere toys

More than 500 rare John Deere tractor models are scheduled for auction at the Cheffins Cambridge vintage sale. The collection belongs to Peter Green, a 77-year-old retired building surveyor from Saffron Walden, Essex, who has spent 12 years amassing the items.

At its peak, the collection contained approximately 900 items. Mr. Green is selling a portion of the collection to create space for new 1:32 scale models. The auction includes 1:16 scale models manufactured by ERTL, featuring custom pieces such as a John Deere 425 Hay Cuber and a Number 22 Cotton Picker. Some of the rarest items, including specialist gold models, were sourced through a dealer in Indiana, USA. Individual high-value items are estimated to be worth between £300 and £500.
