Essex cricketer Robin Das charged with two counts of rape
Essex County Cricket Club batsman Robin Das, 24, has been charged with two counts of rape following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The charges relate to an alleged incident in Brixton, south London, on March 30, 2024.
Das is scheduled to appear at Inner London Crown Court on October 9, 2026. He was arrested in August 2025, and the formal charges were brought on July 23, 2026. The Metropolitan Police stated that specialist officers are providing ongoing support to the woman involved.
Essex County Cricket Club has suspended Das from the team. In an official statement, the club confirmed that the incident occurred outside of club activities and noted they have been in contact with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Professional Cricketers’ Association, and the cricket regulator. The club emphasized its commitment to strict safeguarding and professional conduct standards.
