Essex Neighbour Dispute Over Garden Boundary Leads to £150,000 Court Bill

A 14‑year feud between Philip and Denise New and their neighbours Steve and Karen Gibson in Thundersley, Essex, centered on a few inches of garden boundary, an ornamental squirrel and satirical online songs. After multiple appeals, the High Court upheld the original surveyor’s decision and ordered the New couple to pay roughly £150,000 in legal costs.

In a separate UK case, a man posted on Reddit that his neighbour’s landscaping crew has been connecting a hose to his spigot, causing his water bill to rise. He described the behaviour as deliberate theft of water and sought advice from online commenters on how to stop it.
