Essonne Departmental Council introduces desk bikes for meetings
The Departmental Council of Essonne has introduced eight desk bikes to allow employees to engage in light physical activity during meetings. These stationary bikes feature adjustable resistance, allowing staff to pedal at a moderate pace, such as 18 km/h at 60 watts, without becoming exhausted.
Participants have reported positive feedback, noting improved concentration and reduced afternoon fatigue. Additionally, some employees observed that the physical activity tends to make meetings more concise. The initiative aims to help staff integrate movement into busy work schedules, though organizers emphasize that the effort should remain gentle to ensure comfort in a professional setting.
