Estado de México hosts International Agenda 2030 Forum

The Government of the State of Mexico, through the Committee for Planning for the Development of the State of Mexico (Copladem), hosted the International Agenda 2030 Forum in Toluca. The event aimed to translate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into concrete public policies and local actions. Participants included international organizations, diplomatic corps, legislators, and business leaders.

During the forum, officials reported progress in poverty reduction within the state, noting that the population living in poverty decreased from 7.725 million to 5.53 million in recent years. Additionally, 375,000 residents moved out of extreme poverty, and 925,000 gained improved access to nutritious food.

In a municipal panel, Daniel Serrano Palacios, Mayor of Cuautitlán Izcalli, presented water management advancements aligned with SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). He detailed efforts to protect water resources, including the rehabilitation of 17 wells and the repair of over 5,600 leaks, resulting in a recovery of 1,923 liters per second. He also highlighted plans for a water treatment plant to support regional supply.
