Estado de México spent 120 million pesos due to INFOEM delay

Deputy Octavio Martínez Vargas reported that the State of Mexico has spent approximately 120 million pesos on salaries for bureaucratic commissioners during a six-month delay in the elimination of the Institute for Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (INFOEM).

Martínez stated that the total savings from the disappearance of INFOEM would reach 220 million pesos. The proposed restructuring would shift data protection responsibilities to internal control bodies and the State Government Comptroller, which would operate with a smaller staff of approximately 10 people. An extraordinary period has been called to discuss the elimination and the constitutional right to personal data protection.
