Estanislao López declared National Hero by Argentine Senate

The Argentine Senate has unanimously passed a law declaring Brigadier General Estanislao López a National Hero. The initiative, originally promoted by former national deputy Roberto Mirabella, recognizes López as a central political and military figure of Argentine federalism during the decades following the May Revolution.

López, who governed Santa Fe from 1818 to 1838, is honored for his role in defending provincial autonomies and contributing to the nation's organizational process. Local leaders, including Santa Fe Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti and Senator Carolina Losada, celebrated the decision, noting that the law elevates his historical importance within the country's federal and republican constitutional framework.
