Estádio Algarve to host new 3.5 million euro technology hub

The Association of Municipalities Loulé/Faro (AMLF) has launched a tender for a multi-technological center at Estádio Algarve, with a total investment exceeding 3.5 million euros. The project, referred to as the E-Sports Hub of Regional Innovation, Incubation, and Acceleration, aims to repurpose 2,235 square meters of space within the stadium's eastern stand.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to diversify and sustain the stadium, which was originally built for the Euro 2004 football championship. The center is designed to attract startups, companies, and innovation projects to create a technological ecosystem within the Parque das Cidades area.

By strengthening ties with the University of Algarve, the project seeks to retain local talent and diversify the regional economy through high-knowledge sectors. Officials noted that while the name includes ‘E-Sports’, the facility will not be exclusively dedicated to gaming or electronic sports.
