Estádio Serra Dourada undergoes R$ 400 million renovation
Renovations are underway at the historic Estádio Serra Dourada in Goiânia, Goiás, as part of a R$ 400 million private investment led by the concessionaire Complexo Serra Dourada. The project, which began in July, aims to modernize the stadium and transform it into one of the most advanced arenas in Brazil.
The works are expected to be completed by July 2028. The renovation will increase the stadium's capacity from 38,000 to approximately 44,000 spectators for football matches, while the complex will be capable of hosting up to 60,000 people for concerts and mega-events.
According to Paulo Rossi, superintendent director of Complexo Serra Dourada, the demolition of the old 'Geral' section is complete, and foundations for a new lower grandstand are being laid to bring fans closer to the pitch. The project also includes modern VIP boxes inspired by the NFL model and improvements to internal bars, bathrooms, and logistics tunnels.
