Esteban Echeverría Library recovery advances in Junín
Efforts are underway to recover and reopen the historic Esteban Echeverría Popular Library in the Fátima neighborhood of Junín. The municipal building has been inactive and occupied by a resident since approximately 2015.
Councilwoman Francina Sierra reported that the municipality has officially confirmed the occupancy and initiated a legal eviction process. This process is expected to be completed between late October and early November. Once the premises are vacated, authorities and community members plan to conduct an inventory of books and furniture, with participation from librarians and specialists to assess the condition of the materials.
In parallel with the legal proceedings, local residents and former members held an assembly on August 22 to establish a new board of directors. This group aims to normalize the institution and return the space to the community.
