Esteban Lepaul set to stay at Rennes while Lucas Stassin faces uncertain future at Saint‑Étienne

Belgian striker Lucas Stassin, 21, has struggled to meet expectations at AS Saint‑Étienne. After a season in Ligue 1 that yielded 11 goals and 8 assists, the club was relegated to Ligue 2 and Stassin was omitted from Belgium’s World Cup squad. With limited interest from larger clubs, the forward is expected to seek a new challenge to revive his career.

Stade Rennais, however, is fighting to retain its top scorer Esteban Lepaul, 26, who recorded 21 goals in 32 Ligue 1 matches. Despite reported interest from Atlético Madrid, Benfica and Como, Rennes has begun contract negotiations, rejecting offers reportedly worth €60 million and emphasizing the club’s intent to keep the player.

Both clubs are navigating their summer transfer strategies, with Rennes aiming to secure Lepaul’s future and Saint‑Étienne looking to replace the under‑performing Stassin.
