Esteban Ocon targets continued Formula 1 career after Haas exit
Esteban Ocon has declared his intention to remain in Formula 1 for the next five to seven years, despite the Haas F1 Team announcing they will not continue with him after the 2026 season.
Following a period of underperformance where he was frequently outperformed by teammate Oliver Bearman, Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu expressed disappointment with the Frenchman’s results. As the 2027 grid begins to fill, Ocon has stated he will not pursue racing in other categories, such as Formula E or WEC, if a competitive seat is unavailable.
Instead, Ocon is willing to accept a reserve or third driver role to maintain his presence in the F1 paddock, a position he previously held with Mercedes in 2019. He maintains that based on his career results, including a victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, he deserves to remain in the top flight of motorsport.
