Esteghlal FC dismisses captain Saleh Hardani over disciplinary issues

Esteghlal FC head coach Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh has officially removed Saleh Hardani, the team's second captain and defender, from the squad due to unprofessional conduct and disciplinary issues.

While the decision follows a controversial incident during the Tehran derby—where Hardani verbally protested a decision regarding a free kick—Bakhtiarizadeh clarified that the dismissal is not solely due to that event. The coach stated that Hardani has exhibited a pattern of unprofessional behavior and lack of discipline over the past month, despite multiple meetings held to address these concerns.

The move comes at a challenging time for the club, as Esteghlal is currently facing roster limitations due to a closed transfer window. Hardani had been a key player and a regular starter in the absence of injured veteran Rozbeh Cheshmi.
