Estella-Lizarra launches AI virtual tourism agent Puy

The Estella-Lizarra City Council has launched Puy, an artificial intelligence-based virtual tourism agent designed to provide 24-hour personalized information to visitors and residents. Accessible via web and QR codes, the tool allows users to interact using text or voice in natural language.

Puy can answer queries regarding local landmarks, dining, accommodation, heritage, routes, and events. While trained in Spanish, Basque, and English, the system is capable of responding in any language and can switch languages mid-conversation. The agent provides adaptive recommendations based on user interests, location, and weather conditions.

Beyond visitor assistance, the City Council intends to use anonymized conversation data to improve local tourism management by identifying frequent queries and high-demand points of interest.
