Estepona fire briefly closes A-7 lane, causing traffic delays

A fire broke out near the Río Padrón area of Estepona in the province of Málaga on Sunday afternoon. The blaze, which started in a container close to the river and spread to agricultural land and a vehicle workshop, prompted the Andalusian emergency authority EMA Andalucía to close one lane of the A‑7 motorway for about 80 minutes, causing traffic queues of up to two kilometres.

Firefighters from the provincial and local services, supported by INFOCA, deployed two helicopters, ground crews and fire engines to contain the flames. About 70 residents were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries or damage to residential buildings were reported.
