Estepona to host free traditional sardine espeto event

The town of Estepona will host ‘La Gran Espetada’ this Saturday, September 5, at the fishing port esplanade. The event features the preparation and free distribution of approximately 350 kilos of sardines.

Four award-winning ‘espetero’ chefs from the Malaga province—Miguel León, Alfonso Marín, Miguel Saint, and Nicolás Joaquín Gavín—will prepare the fish using the traditional method of skewering sardines on canes and roasting them over firewood. The initiative, organized by the Estepona Town Hall, aims to honor the cultural heritage and culinary traditions of the Malaga coast.

In addition to the food, the event will include music from a DJ and a charity bar managed by the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Coronada, offering refreshments at affordable prices. Attendees are advised that the free sardine supply is limited to the 350 kilos prepared for the occasion.
