Ester Expósito advocates for social media ban for minors under 16
Spanish actress Ester Expósito has advocated for banning social media access for minors under the age of 16. Speaking during the promotion of the film ‘Enfrentados: Marfil’ on Prime Video, Expósito argued that young teenagers are not equipped to handle the anonymity and potential for hate that exists online.
Expósito cited her own experience with sudden international fame following the Netflix series ‘Élite’ as a primary reason for her stance. She noted that at age 18, she faced intense scrutiny, including misogynistic comments and unsolicited opinions regarding her body. She emphasized that the lack of accountability for anonymous profiles can turn online negativity into a permanent habit, impacting the mental health of adolescents.
