Ester Expósito signs letter of intent for ‘Stink Eye’ debut

Spanish actress Ester Expósito has signed a letter of intent to star in ‘Stink Eye’ (Malmirada), the feature debut of Colombian writer-director Cristina Sánchez Salamanca. The role of Belén, a model and influencer, is currently provisional as the project heads to Madrid’s Iberseries Co-Production and Financing Forum.

The drama follows 13-year-old Nina, whose life is disrupted when her father leaves her mother for Belén. As Nina’s mother struggles with declining health, Nina moves in with her father and his new wife, eventually forming an unexpected and complex bond with her stepmother. The film is described as a dark comedy and body horror that explores the pressures of female beauty and identity.

Sánchez Salamanca, known for her short film ‘Bebé’, drew inspiration from her own childhood experiences for the script. The project also features cinematographer Gris Jordana.
