Esther Ramírez to represent Dominican Republic at FIDE World Youth Chess Championship

Dominican chess player Esther Mariel Ramírez Tavera has been officially invited to represent the Dominican Republic at the 2026 FIDE World Youth Chess Championship (U7 to U17). The tournament will take place from October 13 to 21, 2026, in Roquetas de Mar, Almería, Spain.

Ramírez Tavera, a fourth-grade student at Colegio Centro Educativo Las Américas, will compete in the Girls U9 category. She will be accompanied by her father, FIDE Master Braulio Ramírez, who will serve as the head of the Dominican delegation.

The participation is supported by several Dominican institutions, including the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC), the Ministry of Education (MINERD), the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), and the Dominican Chess Federation (FDA). The competition will follow a Swiss System format consisting of 11 rounds.
