Estonia accuses Russia of ordering arson attack on Milrem Robotics

Estonian officials have formally accused Russian special services of ordering an arson attack on Milrem Robotics, a defense company in Tallinn, during the night of August 14–15. The company is a known supplier of THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine.

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that the incident was a deliberate act of sabotage intended to intimidate European nations and weaken international support for Ukraine. The Estonian Internal Security Service (Kapo) reached this conclusion following a thorough investigation. In response, Estonia has summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires to deliver a protest note.

Three suspects, identified as Latvian citizens, were detained in Latvia and subsequently extradited to Estonia in September. Authorities noted that while the perpetrators no longer pose a threat, the incident is part of a broader campaign of Russian hybrid provocations in Europe.

The Kremlin has rejected all allegations, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov describing the accusations as baseless and lacking reasoning. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged the ongoing campaign of hostile actions by Russia against allies but emphasized that such efforts have failed to undermine Western unity.
