Estonia launches KalaOTT platform to connect fish sellers and buyers

The Fisheries Information Centre has launched KalaOTT, a new digital platform designed to centralize fish and fish product sales offers across Estonia. The application serves as a direct-to-consumer marketplace, allowing buyers to research who is selling fish, where it is being sold, and when it is available.

Toomas Armulik, head of the Fisheries Information Centre, stated that the initiative aims to bring local fish closer to consumers. The platform addresses a gap in the market where large supermarket chains require regular, large-scale deliveries that many local fishers cannot guarantee. By using KalaOTT, fishers can offer a wider variety of species and smaller quantities that are often unavailable in traditional retail settings, while consumers gain easier access to fresh, domestic products.
