Estonian construction volume grows for second consecutive quarter

Estonian construction volume has increased for the second consecutive quarter. According to Statistics Estonia, the total volume of work performed by Estonian construction companies in the second quarter of 2026 rose by 3.8% compared to the same period last year.

On the domestic market, construction volume grew by 4.6%. This included a 6.8% increase in buildings and a 1% increase in structures such as roads, bridges, and utilities. The growth in building construction was primarily driven by an increase in renovation and reconstruction work, as demand for new buildings, particularly residential ones, has been declining based on building permit data.

In contrast, the volume of work performed by Estonian companies operating abroad decreased, falling to 6% of the total construction volume from 7% in the previous year. This decline was largely attributed to a reduction in building construction activities overseas.
