Estonian Employers' Confederation warns of skilled labor shortages

The Estonian Employers' Confederation has released a manifesto outlining critical challenges facing the national labor market. A primary concern is the shortage of skilled workers, which persists despite high employment rates. Employers are calling for targeted measures to attract international technology companies and talent to Estonia to bolster productivity and competitiveness.

The Confederation also highlighted issues regarding lost workdays due to health concerns and the need for improved management quality. While the industrial sector has seen a continuous increase in job offers for seven consecutive quarters, other sectors like service and administration face a surplus of candidates. The manifesto emphasizes the necessity of transforming research and development into high-value export products and implementing strategic policies to bridge the gap between available labor and specific corporate skill requirements.
