Estonian entrepreneurs express concern over emigration to Southern Europe
Estonian entrepreneurs Andres Peets and Meelis Kubits have raised concerns regarding the increasing number of Estonians relocating to the Mediterranean coast. Peets noted during a visit to Marbella, Spain, that the area increasingly feels like an ‘Estonian colony’ due to the high density of compatriots establishing new lives, businesses, and families abroad.
Peets highlighted that while Estonia is considered a livable country, the migration of active and entrepreneurial individuals to places like Spain, Italy, and France suggests a deeper sense of disillusionment. Kubits, head of Kultuuripartnerluse SA, added that people are not leaving Estonia solely for financial reasons, but rather because they have ‘given up’ on the domestic environment.
