Estonian opposition calls for no-confidence motion against Michal government
Opposition parties in Estonia are calling for a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Kristen Michal’s government and the organization of early parliamentary elections. The Isamaa party issued a political statement arguing that the current Reform Party and Eesti 200 coalition has lost its majority in Parliament and is delaying critical decisions regarding demography, national finance, and healthcare.
Isamaa also criticized the government’s handling of the energy sector and its inability to protect Estonian interests within the European Union, specifically regarding EU emissions trading rules.
Following a similar move by the EKRE party, which argued that the coalition's support has dropped to unprecedented levels, EKRE has proposed the formation of a temporary government composed of experts and all political forces except the Reform Party and Eesti 200 to lead the country to the next elections.
