Estonian PM Kristen Michal urges EU to increase aid to target Russian refineries
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal has called on the European Union to increase support for Ukraine, specifically suggesting that aid should enable Kyiv to conduct more active strikes against Russian oil refineries.
Michal criticized a recent agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding increased global supplies of Russian diesel, labeling the deal a ‘big mistake’ that contradicts Western efforts to limit Russian energy revenues. He warned that such deals with dictators lead to a ‘path to hell.’
In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Michal of pushing Europe toward direct confrontation and described him as a ‘destroyer’ who is dragging the continent into a fog of opposition. The Estonian leader has proposed that the European Council discuss ways to rapidly escalate military and economic assistance during upcoming meetings.
