Estonia's Registered Unemployment Drops to Five-Year Low in Q2 2026
In the second quarter of 2026, Estonia recorded 40,000 people registered as unemployed, the lowest level in the past five years. The unemployment rate fell to 5.7%, a decline of 0.8 percentage points from the same period in 2025.
The labour market report noted that the reduction in registered job‑seekers coincided with a decrease in the number of vacant positions and signs of a modest slowdown in overall labour‑market activity. Officials from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund commented on the tighter competition for jobs among executives and top specialists, while also acknowledging the challenges this poses for job seekers.
