Estra Sport Journalism Awards launch ninth edition in Italy

The ninth edition of the “Estra per lo Sport: l’energia delle buone notizie” journalism award has been announced. Promoted by Estra in collaboration with the Italian Sports Press Union (USSI) and the Order of Journalists of Tuscany, the award recognizes storytelling that goes beyond match results to highlight the human impact of sports on communities.

Competition categories include Print, Web and Blog, and Television, Radio, and Podcast. Special honors will be awarded for Career Achievement, Woman in Sport, the “Daniele Redaelli” award for journalists under 30, and the “Estra per il Territorio” award. The initiative also includes educational projects for schools to promote responsible and truthful reporting.

Separately, the SuperNews scholarship program is entering its tenth year, offering Italian university students financial support. This year’s challenge requires participants to create an illustrated sports calendar for 2027, combining journalistic writing with event scheduling to support students in fields such as Communication Sciences, Sports Science, and Humanities.
