Estrella Morente clarifies casting misunderstanding involving Penélope Cruz

Spanish singer Estrella Morente has issued a statement to clarify a misunderstanding regarding the film ‘La bola negra’, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi. The controversy arose following an interview where Morente mentioned she had auditioned for a role in the film but was unable to participate due to work commitments.

Her comments were misinterpreted by the media and public as a claim to the specific role eventually played by actress Penélope Cruz. This caused friction because the directors had previously stated the character was conceived specifically for Cruz.

In her social media clarification, Morente stated, “I do not understand this uproar,” explaining that she had erroneously associated her audition with Cruz's character without having seen the film or knowing the specific details of the role. She expressed respect for Cruz and took responsibility for the confusion caused by her words.
