Estremoz hosts Iberian Women's Volleyball Cup and new federation delegation

Estremoz is hosting the Iberian Women's Volleyball Cup this weekend, featuring four teams—two from Portugal and two from Spain. The tournament, held at the Municipal Pavilion, includes the defending champion FC Porto. Matches are scheduled for September 19 and 20, with live coverage provided by Sport TV.

Alongside the competition, the Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV) announced the establishment of a new delegation in Estremoz to boost the sport in the Alentejo and Portalegre regions. National Technical Director Leonel Salgueiro stated that the move aims to address the geographic challenges of the current Alentejo and Algarve Volleyball Association, which can make local intervention difficult.

The new structure will initially employ two technicians focused on the Estremoz and Portalegre areas. A primary objective will be the implementation or resumption of 'Giravolei,' a project designed to promote and introduce volleyball to children through local schools.
