Eswatini business and sports sectors see major investment developments

Ubombo Sugar has been named the top-performing business in the Associated British Foods (ABF) Sugar division for the second consecutive year. The Big Bend-based company is currently executing a E2.8 billion investment programme in Eswatini, which includes E1.3 billion for sugar factory expansion and E1.5 billion for a 40-megawatt electricity generation plant scheduled for 2028.

In the sports sector, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has partnered with Radison Global Investment to secure sponsors from South Africa. The collaboration aims to create a more commercially sustainable football ecosystem by attracting strategic investors and expanding media opportunities.

Meanwhile, a South African mining magnate has expressed interest in investing in the Mbabane Swallows football club. The investor has reportedly provided temporary financial relief to players, but has conditioned further investment on the resolution of an ongoing leadership dispute between the club's association and company factions.
