Eswatini financial institutions seek strategic growth and leadership

The Eswatini Stock Exchange (ESE) has launched Kwakhanya 2030, a five-year corporate strategy aimed at deepening capital markets and attracting both domestic and international investment. ESE Chief Executive Officer Simanga Mdluli emphasized the need for the country to actively compete for capital by providing alternatives to traditional banking, such as corporate bonds, equity investment, and stock exchange listings.

Mdluli proposed the creation of a National Capital Markets Master Plan to coordinate efforts between the government, the Central Bank of Eswatini, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority, and other stakeholders. He cited Kenya and Rwanda as successful models for national capital-market frameworks.

Simultaneously, Eswatini Bank is seeking new leadership for its Board of Directors to enhance corporate governance and drive strategic growth. The state-owned development finance institution, which is celebrating 60 years of operation, is calling for applications from former senior banking professionals with at least seven years of core experience to help navigate an evolving digital and regulatory landscape.
