Spain: Two arrested for alleged terrorism on ETA's 15th anniversary

Spanish authorities have arrested two individuals, a 34-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, on suspicion of terrorism-related offenses. The arrests follow a police control in Eskoriatza, Gipuzkoa, on September 26, where the suspects were identified while traveling in a vehicle.

During the search, investigators recovered sensitive material, including plans for former ETA weapon caches (zulos), lists of Civil Guard members, and handwritten notes regarding police vehicle license plates. Encrypted devices were also seized, containing photographs of training for violent acts and images featuring ETA flags. The National Court has ordered provisional prison for the detainees, who are allegedly linked to the radical group Jardun.

A third individual, an Irish citizen, was also identified during the investigation. The arrests coincide with the 15th anniversary of ETA's definitive cessation of armed activity. While EH Bildu leader Arnaldo Otegi stated that a return to armed violence is not a possibility, political leaders from the PNV and PP have expressed concern regarding the potential activities of dissident radical groups.
