eTax Mobile updates to help users detect identity theft

The General Department of Taxation has released an update to the eTax Mobile application to combat the rising trend of identity theft. Criminals are increasingly using stolen citizen identification data to illegally register businesses or household businesses, potentially exposing victims to significant legal risks, including massive tax debts, illegal invoices, and criminal liability.

Through the updated app, users can now verify if their personal information is being used by unauthorized organizations. By navigating to the ‘Personal Information’ section and selecting ‘Organization/Enterprise Information,’ users can view a list of all companies legally linked to their identity.

The application includes a ‘Send Feedback’ feature, allowing users to immediately report suspicious activity or stolen identities directly to the relevant tax authorities via an online form.
