Etchojoa University Hospital construction begins in Sonora

Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño has broken ground on the construction of the University Hospital at the Universidad Tecnológica de Etchojoa (UTE). The project, supported by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and federal Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado Carrillo, represents an investment of approximately 510 million pesos.

The facility is designed to serve a dual purpose: providing specialized medical care to more than 61,000 residents in southern Sonora and acting as a training ground for medical students. The hospital will house the Faculty of Health Sciences, allowing for the professional formation of doctors, nurses, and paramedics.

Planned infrastructure includes 30 beds, two operating rooms, two delivery rooms, 11 specialty consultation rooms, an emergency area, a clinical laboratory, imaging services, and a tococirugía area. The project aims to address a long-standing regional demand for local specialized healthcare, reducing the need for residents to travel to other cities for medical treatment.
