ETESA receives positive outlook from Fitch Ratings

Fitch Ratings has upgraded the outlook for Panama’s Electric Transmission Company, SA (ETESA) from stable to positive, maintaining a long-term international foreign currency rating of ‘B’. The agency cited the company’s strategic importance to the national electricity system, its liquidity position, and its ability to meet financial obligations as key factors. The review also reflects the sovereign rating evolution of the Republic of Panama and ETESA’s relationship with the government.

Additionally, S&P Global – National Ratings recently assigned a ‘paAAA’ rating to ETESA’s US$300 million bond issue with a stable outlook, which is the highest level on S&P’s national scale for Panama. This assessment highlighted ETESA’s role as the exclusive operator of national electricity transmission and its access to capital and debt markets. ETESA General Manager Roy Morales attributed the positive developments to management focused on planning and clear objectives to provide uninterrupted service.
