ETF market analysis covers small-cap and AI technology funds

Various exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are being analyzed for their specific market exposures, ranging from small-cap stocks to artificial intelligence technology.

In the small-cap sector, the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 600 Small Cap ETF (SPSM) and the iShares Core S&P Small-Cap ETF (IJR) both track the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. SPSM offers a lower expense ratio of 0.03% compared to IJR's 0.06% and features a slightly higher dividend yield of 1.4%. While IJR has significantly higher assets under management at $110.3 billion, both funds have shown similar five-year growth and volatility.

In the technology sector, the iShares AI Innovation and Tech Active ETF (BAI) focuses on companies developing and deploying artificial intelligence. Launched in October 2024, the fund has seen significant returns driven by semiconductor holdings such as Micron Technology, Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, Broadcom, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. The fund also includes major cloud and cybersecurity players like Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Palo Alto Networks, and CrowdStrike.
